The German glass technology association “Forum Glastechnik” elected a new board at its recently-held members’ general assembly, with existing President, Dr. Bernd-Holger Zippe, confirmed in office by association members for the next three years.
At its members’ general assembly on 4 November 2011 in Bremen, the German glass technology association “Forum Glastechnik” elected a new board. Existing President Dr. Bernd-Holger Zippe – managing partner of Zippe Industrieanlagen GmbH, Wertheim – was confirmed in office by association members for the next three years.
Residing in the post of Vice President is Dr. Harald Jodeit, managing director of JSJ Jodeit GmbH Jena. Newly elected to the board is Egbert Wenninger, Board Management Member at Grenzebach Maschinenbau GmbH, Asbach-Bäumenheim. Other board members confirmed in office are Alfred C. Beimdick, managing director of Klöpper Maschinentechnik GmbH, Siegfried Glaser, managing director of Glaser FMB GmbH & Co KG as well as Andreas Gruhle, managing director of Glamaco Maschinenbau GmbH, Coswig.
Dr. Bernd-Holger Zippe and Siegfried Glaser represent the glass technology sector on the board of the German Construction Equipment and Building Material Machinery Association (Fachverband Bau- und Baustoffmaschinen), which Glastechnik belongs to in organizational terms.
The German Engineering Federation (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau – VDMA) represents over 3,000 medium-sized enterprises in the machinery and plant building sector. Counting some 920,000 employees domestically (April 2011) and generating turnover of approximately EUR 173 billion (2010), the sector is the largest industrial employer in Germany and one of the country’s leading branches of industry overall. The federation is one of the most influential economic associations in Germany and Europe.
Forum Glass Technology represents the glass sector within the VDMA and has 60 member firms. These produce machinery and facilities for the flat, hollow and special glass industry. This export-oriented sector generates an annual turnover of EUR 800 million (2011) and employs about 5,000 people. A total of some 150 member firms in the VDMA are involved in the glass sector.
