Verallia starts-up photovoltaic installation at Montblanc plant

Verallia advances its sustainability strategy with the start-up of the photovoltaic installation at the Montblanc factory in Spain.

The Montblanc site is now powered by solar energy, joining existing installations in Burgos, Gran Canaria (Spin) and Figueira da Foz (Portugal).

With this new installation, added to the existing ones, Verallia Iberia will be able to reduce its annual CO2 emissions by more than 9,000 tonnes per year thanks to the four factories that have a photovoltaic plant.

The assembly carried out in Tarragona is a mixed installation, both on the roof and on the internal ground, with a PPA model project with Edison Next Spain.

The installed power at the Catalan factory is 6,140 kWp and generates an estimated 8,400 MWh/y, which represents approximately 18 percent coverage of the factory’s current consumption. With this photovoltaic installation, in addition, a reduction in CO2 of 2,500 tons per year is achieved.

Given the importance of sustainability, Verallia is increasingly aware of its role and takes action to make everyone’s future better. Therefore, it’s possible to say that that sustainability is part of the DNA of the company.

Verallia continues to be committed to energy efficiency in all its processes, guaranteeing the use of 100 percent green energy.
