Iconic geodesic glass shell gives centre-goers a panoramic view of downtown Ottawa.
The Ottawa Convention Centre in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada has been outfitted with a 100 foot rounded façade featuring Viracon glass. To outfit the façade, Viracon used Insulating Laminated, Insulating, and Monolithic products. The coated glass leveraged Viracon’s VE1-55 Low-E coating. The design allows for increased durability, energy control, and a sweeping view of the Rideau Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site and Parliament Hill.
The Ottawa Convention Centre remains committed to a strict environmental charter, which has allowed the facility to divert 94.3 percent of its construction waste away from landfills. In January 2013, the Ottawa Convention Centre achieved LEED® Gold certification from the Association of Congress Centres (AIPC) Quality Standards program.
The convention centre, built on the former location of the Ottawa Congress Centre, features 192,000 square feet of usable space divided into four levels, which includes 28 meeting rooms, a theatre hall, a banquet hall, a kitchen studio and a ballroom.
