Vista Window is to acquire the IG assets and process capabilities of Caliber Glass. The equipment and employees of Caliber Glass will move from Solon to Lordstown, Ohio, near Vista’s production facility.
Vista Window Co. LLC has reportedly entered into an agreement to acquire the insulating glass (IG) assets and process capabilities of Caliber Glass LLC in Solon, Ohio, founded by 30-year industry veteran Mike McHugh.
According to a release from Vista, McHugh participated in the founding of IG fabricator Edge Seal Technologies (now INTIGRAL Inc.), Fenetech Inc. and Leading Edge Distribution. He is an owner of Integrated Automation Systems (IAS), which makes smart gas-filling systems.
“I have collaborated with Mike McHugh for 20 years and look forward to doing it for another 20,” says Dan McCarthy, CEO of Vista. “Vista is committed to pushing the envelope with new technologies and performance capabilities [that] we are bringing in-house with this acquisition.”
The equipment and employees of Caliber Glass will move from Solon to an already-purchased building in Lordstown, Ohio, near Vista’s production facility in April.
According to Vista, McHugh says he is “exiting the IG business to better focus [his] efforts on [the] OptiGas advanced gas-filling systems for insulating glass.”
“Because of the extremely close relationship with Vista management, IAS and Optigas will continue to have access to IG fabrication to allow us to develop better performing processes and products because of our knowledge of real-world IG production,” he adds.
