Vitreous Glass Inc. appoints new director

David Birkby, previously owner-operator of Westbridge Containers, has been appointed as a director of Vitreous Glass Inc.

Vitreous Glass Inc. has appointed David Birkby as a director of the Corporation as of 10 April 2012.
Following a career with an international oil major and a packaging company, for the past 10 years Birkby has been the owner-operator of Westbridge Containers Ltd. in Calgary – a manufacturer of PET plastic bottles primarily for the food and beverage industry in Canada and the US. Westbridge was the recipient of “best employer” award in the city of Calgary in 2010.
Birkby holds a degree in polymer chemistry and a certificate in business from McMaster University. He spent eight years on the board of directors for the Canadian Plastics Industry Association; for two years he was the Chair of the Board of the Association, and was awarded “leader of the year” in 2009 by industry peers. Birkby has also been active for the past eight years with MAC (manufacturing action committee) promoting the sector for young people entering the workforce and advocating on manufacturing issues in the province.
J. Patrick Cashion, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Vitreous stated “We are very pleased that David Birkby has agreed to join the board of directors of Vitreous. Birkby has extensive experience with the successful building and operation of a small manufacturing business, and we are confident that his knowledge and experience will be invaluable to the Corporation.”
Vitreous Glass Inc. cleans, crushes, and sells waste glass in Canada. The company offers its products to the manufacturers of fiberglass building insulation for use as a raw material in their production facilities. Vitreous Glass Inc. is based in Airdrie, Canada.
