Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, William (Bill) C. Hall, age 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022, after a four-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). As the leader of one of the most prominent silent chain companies in the world, Bill was well known for his significant contributions to the power transmission and conveying industry.
Bill graduated from North Carolina State University in 1978 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980, earning both bachelor and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering. He joined Ramsey Products Corporation as a senior mechanical engineer in 1983 and became President and CEO of the company eight years later. In 2019, Bill turned CEO operations over to Mark Taylor but remained Chairman of the Board of the company.
Under Bill’s long-standing leadership, Ramsey Products flourished into an international company serving thousands of customers and gained eight patents due to its engineering innovation.
Bill was inducted into the NC State University Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Hall of Fame in 2012, his nomination based on his professional and service achievements, entrepreneurial activities, and contributions to professional societies. He was also a member of Pi Tau Sigma and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He was on the Board of Directors of The Employers Association in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he served as President of the former American Chain Association.
Bill is revered by all who knew him, both personally and professionally.
